The art of presentation over substance

Posted by Steve Orme on June 6, 2007 9:00 AM |

Two apparently talentless cockney piglets, called Rodney and Del Boy, have created an exclusive contemporary artwork which has actually earned them money despite turning out a real pig’s ear.
Their ‘ability’ was discovered by accident when they started to snuffle materials at an art show and transfer them to paper.
The ‘art’, called Olympic Logo 2012, oh sorry wrong story but it goes to show how with the right marketing you can get to people to believe the emperor is wearing new clothes.
There was a time when this was the case in the motor industry but a harder headed public is quite happy to watch an amusing or funny ad it is just not prepared to buy a car because the makers says it will set a sugar cane field on fire.
Oh, and the motoring hack world has been thinned out and shorn of many of the sycophants who declared every car a ‘winner’ even it listed seats as optional extras, on the back of a cheeky little Chablis and a launch trip to the Costa Packet.
